Watch out for these two committee and founder members of the club, this is not in fact the nineteen sixties!

Now there is only darkness
In the beginning there was only darkness.
Then Jeff created 'circuit', and 'circuit' was the light. Jeff looked upon 'circuit' and he was pleased. The people tried 'circuit' and they were broken, so Jeff spoke unto the people and said "it's no good being able to run, if you can't carry your shopping home" and the people did get strong. But the world was too flat and uninteresting, so Jeff did create 'hills' and again the people were broken but they did get strong. Soon the people told Jeff they wanted to be fast and they found out "the only way to run fast, is to run fast" and the people got faster. Then the people did race, many people, and raced proudly, and some even won prizes! And Jeff knew everyone would gladly race for 'the club' no matter what their standard and they would they would always, always "gamble and hold it".
But slowly over the years darkness did fall again onto the world, and the word of Jeff was lost. The people stopped doing speed-work and intervals and they did not like racing, (even when it was free!) and 'the club' did not know why. Analysts considered that "time is an abstract concept" but Jeff would not have that, he'd have said
In the warriors code
There's no surrender
Though his body says stop
His spirit cries - never!
Deep in our soul
A quiet ember
Know it's you against you
It's the paradox
That drives us on
Ok it's from the Rocky IV soundtrack, but start getting driven on again.....

The Restoration (IS12)
On 11th
November 2004 the club lost a pivotal figure in its evolution. He
drifted away after a long illness, killed by ambivalence. He’d
become what the club thought was a throwback, an anachronism, in the
new dawn of being a serious and grown up club, but was that really
the case? The trouble is once you stop believing in something Santa,
the tooth fairy, god, the royal family it becomes irrelevant.
Everything in nature though needs balance, and nature has a way of
finally correcting things that topple too far one way. Yin needs
Yang, God needs the Devil, and Holmes needs Moriarty.
Years have passed and he
became all but forgotten, a whisper, an echo, by all but a few
faithful followers, the bizarre, the irreverent, the camp, the
holders of the sacred torch of ‘truth’ the cult of the Thracian.
That torch was once shone so unerringly at the comic heart of the
club that people waited in expectation to see who it would touch next. These loyal acolytes have not been dormant; they began a
project of painstaking research and in turn hold themselves readyness for
the return of ‘him’.
Then, in January 2012 a
rumour began to circulate, a rumour that ‘he’ had in fact faked
his own death and was in hiding until once again the club needed him.
Could this be true? Does he still have a role to play? Will he make a
triumphant return like some Arthurian figure to lead us once more to
the true way of doing things? Do you even know what I’m talking
about! So I issue you this warning, are you too serious?, Do you
think there is an ‘i’ in team, do you cause calamity wherever
you go? Are you an old school buffoon or an injury prone
hypochondriac! then 'He' is coming, 'He' is sharpening his rhetorical pencil,
he’s looking for soft targets, and thats you! 'He' is coming and this time he won’t
be serious! His name is 'Spartacus' and he gets his retaliation in
first!

The rumour mill continues...
Recents sighting are confirmed but the essence of the man means we probably won't know he has been until he's gone. Some say that after faking his death he returned as the first Stig on BBC's Top Gear show; have you ever seen them in the same room at the same time? No! So don't even think of thinking that it can't be true.
One thing is for sure, ice still doesn't melt in his hand...

Where's Spartacus been? Update...
The previous 'handler' of Spartacus has been trying to get hold of him. Last we heard, and it's only a rumour, was that he'd faked his own death because he couldn't take his celebrity status. I wonder (if he's still alive) if he's tired of the wilderness and is willing to shine the light of 'truth' back on the club, and is the club ready for that!
